Advocates help parents/caregivers/family members of children with disabilities access community and school-based services – at no charge.

Often the world of special education is overwhelming.

So, our team developed a guide to Navigating the World of Special Education. It’s designed to help you identify acronyms and new terms.

Special Education Advocate Laken Wilson hopes it’s a resource for families.

“School staff frequently use these terms. They might not know that parents don’t understand them as easily, it can sometimes be overlooked,” she says. “This can be a reference or something to refer back to.”

This guide will be updated as frequently as terms are changed or modified, she adds.
